Protect your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, and avoid direct sun exposure and tanning while you heal. Hold off on retinoids, exfoliants, and other active ingredients for a few days, or until your provider gives you the okay.

You should also avoid activities that heat up your skin, such as saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts, for 24 to 48 hours.
