What Are Enlarged Pores?
Pores are small openings in the skin that allow oil and sweat to reach the surface. Every person has pores, and they serve an important role in maintaining healthy skin function. However, factors such as genetics, excess oil production, aging, sun damage, and reduced collagen support can make pores more noticeable.
It’s important to understand that pores cannot be permanently “closed,” but they can often be made significantly less visible by improving skin quality, reducing congestion, controlling oil production, and stimulating collagen within the surrounding tissue. When the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and healthier overall, pores often appear smaller and less prominent.
For many patients, enlarged pores are less about the pores themselves and more about how they affect the skin’s overall appearance. Large pores can contribute to uneven texture, reduced radiance, and a complexion that appears rougher than desired.
