For the first 24 hours, cleanse your face with lukewarm water only and skip makeup so your skin can rest and recover.

Avoid direct sun exposure, and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day once your provider gives you the okay. Hold off on retinoids, exfoliants, and acids for about a week.

Also avoid activities that make you sweat, such as saunas, hot tubs, and intense workouts, for at least 48 hours.
